Walking / hiking
Either with or without your dog, you will be able to enjoy the numerous walking trails and routes of the Nockberge and Carinthian. Your free Kärnten Card allows you to get even higher up into the mountains to take unlimited walks along the mountain ridges with endless views over the Grossglockner and the Karawanken; and let’s not forget the Nockalmstrasse! There are lovely mountain huts everywhere where you can get a typical Austrian snack. Carinthia has the most hours of sunshine, making Spring and Autumn seasons equally pleasant for beautiful long walks. The hiking bus stops right outside the Lodge!

Thermal pools and health spas
Bad Kleinkirchheim has two of the three Thermal resorts available in Carinthia. The Römerbad is located at walking distance from the Lodge and offers wellness treatments with a Roman allure. The Thermenbad St. Kathrein which was renovated in June 2017 is just 2 kilometres away from the Lodge and is a family resort with water slides.
These are open all year round. That is why Bad Kleinkirchheim’s motto is: “Straight from your skis into the spa”.
Golf
Golfing in a valley with beautiful views of the mountains of Carinthia, every golf enthusiast understands that this is a great environment for walking 18 holes. Near the Nockberge Lodge is a beautiful 18-hole golf course. A week of golfing in Carinthia can be done on a different course every day, because there are 9 other golf courses in the vicinity!
Mountain biking
People who prefer to explore the Carinthia region by mountain bike can do so to their heart’s content. Bad Kleinkirchheim and surrounding area has the Nockbike. There is also the Alpe-Adria trail of the Transalp route, which runs right through the Biosphärenpark Nockberge and along the Millstätter See (this is also a well-known walking trail).
This is a special route of no less than 7 km that runs through the old mining tracks and will thus provide you with a unique experience. You can get into the mountains with your bike by various lifts. Once there, you can ride limitlessly while enjoying the beautiful landscapes and fresh and healthy Carinthian air! (E-)mountain bikes are available for hire in the village.
Cycling
A (racing) bike will take you anywhere in the Carinthian. The Drauradweg route at 366 kilometres long, runs through the lakes district of Carinthia. This cycling route is especially popular with recreational cyclists and families because of its flat tracks in the valley and its idyllic picnic spots. Motor cycling
Carinthia is a Walhalla for motorbike riders. The Nockalmstrasse, the Grossglocknerstrasse and the Drielandentour are the best known trajectories for motor cyclists. The Nockberge Lodge provides a warm welcome to motor cyclists; motor bikes can be parked indoors. Breakfast is available in our lounge and there is also a bakery service.
Water sports
Austria has beautiful lakes of drinking water quality where you can swim, and crystal clear mountain streams where you can cool off in the Summer, you can go surfing, sailing, rafting, kayaking, diving and fishing here.
Lakes near the Nockberge Lodge include the Millstätter See, Feldsee, Brennsee, Wörthersee, the Ossiacher See, Türracher See and the Afritzer See. And finally, the Faaker See, Austria’s most southern swimming lake which has the most hours of sunshine.
City trips
Bad Kleinkirchheim is the perfect location for enjoying a holiday combination of ‘ nature ‘ and city trips. Villach and Klagenfurt are lovely, typically South-Austrian cities, with beautiful old city centres, lovely markets, shops and restaurants. Both cities have new indoor shopping malls. Salzburg is also worth a driving visit. Just across the border, you will find Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. In Northern Italy, you can visit the beautiful cities of Trieste and Venice.
