More than 100 kilometres of meticulously maintained pistes are available for beginners and experts. Those who are not yet entirely confident on skis can steadily improve on the wide slopes, while eight kilometres of black runs offer advanced skiers exhilarating descents. An absolute highlight for experienced skiers is the famous “Kärnten – Franz Klammer” World Cup downhill run, which takes you down the mountain at high speed.
Modern snowmaking systems provide reliable snow cover on most pistes when needed, and 24 lifts and mountain railways carry you quickly and comfortably to the runs. The free ski bus stops outside Nockberge Lodge, and the Römerloipe, a cross-country trail of around eight kilometres, runs behind our luxurious accommodation. Usually from December to March, it lets cross-country skiers discover the snowy mountain scenery. When there is enough snow, the Römerloipe even runs from Patergassen all the way to Gnesau.
Ski schools and ski hire
Several rental shops in Bad Kleinkirchheim let you hire all your ski equipment, from skis to helmet, at reasonable prices. At some of these shops you can also take your time choosing the equipment online before your ski holiday, leaving only collection when you arrive. Of course, the rental shops also provide expert advice to ensure that you receive the best equipment for your needs.
If you want to learn skiing or snowboarding during your winter holiday in Bad Kleinkirchheim, the village’s ski schools are an excellent place to start. Experienced instructors teach you the correct stance and technique so that you can soon master your first exciting descent. Naturally, the schools teach young winter-sports enthusiasts too: in the Kindersnowland and on the Kidsslope with Nox and Nixi next to the Sonnleitenlift in St. Oswald, children’s eyes sparkle as brightly as the snow crystals.
